About the Dirt Diggers North MC

Founded in 1968, the Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club (DDNMC) has been a cornerstone of motocross in Northern California for over five decades. What began as a small group of passionate riders meeting at the Orangevale Cycle Center quickly transformed into a club with a vision — to bring world-class motocross to the region.

On April 22, 1968, the Dirt Diggers North MC was officially recognized by the State of California. Drawing inspiration from their sister club in Southern California, known for the Hopetown Grand Prix, the DDNMC created their own iconic event — the Hangtown Motocross Classic.

Today, the Hangtown Classic holds the distinction of being the oldest race on the AMA National Motocross Championship Series and the only one still continuously organized by a club. With a legacy built on racing, community, and dedication, the DDNMC continues to honor its roots while inspiring new generations of riders and fans.
